Meeting with the President

A delegation of seven creative students of D.P.S. R.K. Puram accompanied by principal Dr. (Mrs.) Shayama Chona and two staff members Mr. Mukesh Kumar - Supervisor & Head Computer Science Dept. and Mrs. Mamta Sharma - Incharge Int'l Admissions, called on the President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam at the Rashtrapati Bhavan recently. The group had an interactive session with him which included factors that contribute towards an individual's success, the importance of having a goal which should be supplemented with hard work and pursued with perseverence and persistence. The President said that in India there are 260 million people living below the poverty line but he had full confidence in the 540 million youth of the nation to take the country forward and bring about an attitudinal change in society.

The students also presented their publications to the President - a book titled "Energy Independence - visions of a hybrid future" by Gopal Kumar of std. XII; "Amazing Facts for Young Minds", a compliation by four students of std. VI and a compilation of poems by Nishant Yadav of std. VIII.

President Kalam interacted with the students individually, on their personal dreams and cherished ambitions, and the discipline in which they would like to make their mark. He presented the children with autographed cards, which embodied his message:

"Learning gives creativity
Creativity leads to thinking
Thinking provides knowledge
Knowledge makes you great."
